Well…while everybody’s taking the day off, I’ve been laboring. Laboring on my new track, that is. At this point, the only labor I really do is feeding the homeless. And that’s only part time. So this is a change of pace.
Anyway…today’s labor centers around writing and singing (ugh) my new opus which granted, ain’t exactly Beethoven’s 5th. But somehow despite my lack of aptitude, I’ve found my way to a good pop hook to go with the previously published track. The basic premise is bobby sox simple. Dude sees girl…likes what he sees…and wants to get next to her. He pleads his case only to have her laugh him off until finally, he wears her down and she decides to relent and accept his overture.
You’ll have to pardon Schizophrenic Bill on this one. This is a duet – both parts played by yours truly – with help from Garage Band’s “helium” voice. Oddly, I think I sound better as a girl. But that’s besides the point.
I stress that this is rough. It might need a third verse – or elongation of the first two. And there needs to be a little more duet in the presentation. Additionally, the guitar solos have acquired some sort of unintended warbling effect owing to faulty software. I really need to download and learn Pro Tools. Regardless, I know how publishers work. The concept is there. And if somebody likes the hook, they’ll bite. Here it is:
