The other day I was having (or trying to have) a serious conversation with a cute hooker I know. Her taste in boyfriends is more than a little suspect and I presumed to suggest that she stop dating drug dealers and thugs in favor of somebody with half a brain and future. The woman pondered my advice and answered “Well I am a smart girl,” meaning she has the right stuff to mentally stimulate a man like that.
I will say that this individual has her gifts. But mental agility simply isn’t one of them. To be blunt, the girl is a dumbbell. And harsh as that appraisal may seem, it might serve her well to understand that.
I relate this story as a preface to my opinion on another person’s statement that he’s a genius. And that person would be the president of the United States, who recently proclaimed himself as such in response to the just published book “Fire and Fury.” It seems the author revealed Trump and his presidency as the train wreck I’m sure it is. And DJT felt it appropriate to respond with his “genius” statement.
Granted, Trump is about as undignified as they come. All that tweeting…and all the venom that comes from the man’s mouth! And that tape where he feels entitled to grab a woman by the pussy anytime he wants. As repulsive as all that is, the idea that somebody who answered “eleven twelve” in response to “how much is seventeen times six” would consider himself a genius leads me to label him The King of Presumption – and certainly not “our genius president.” When the POTUS has been proven to be not just a pussy grabber – but utterly and completely delusional, you know the country is in trouble.
On to who just might be our next president. OPRAH gave a widely heralded speech last night at the Golden Globes. Ms. Winfrey is everything Trump isn’t. She’s intelligent, eloquent, compassionate, black and a woman. Daddy didn’t give her $47,000,000 and tell her “Now go out and succeed.” She came from nothing. Now this is a person of accomplishment. Trump was a disciplinary problem whose father sent him to military school because he was so unmanageable. Need I say more?
And how’s about that MICHAEL WOLFF guy, who wrote the “Fire and Fury” book which has elicited all of Trump’s fire and fury? Dude looks like he could get blown over by a stiff breeze. Not exactly a force of nature! I’m surprised at how inarticulate he is. MW does not interview well. Memo to the man: Lose all the ums and ya knows. Organize your thoughts and stance. Even the president can say stuff like this is a very very terrible person without slipping in ten “ums” and five “ya knows.” I believe what Wolff says in “Fire and Fury.” But not because he’s a compelling figure…but because Trump is such an uncompelling figure. You get the idea.
Final observation for today. To the brain-dead athletes we watch on the gridiron. Fourth down and two for your opponent. The QB throws a desperation pass 20 yards down the field hoping for an immaculate reception. You’re a pro defensive back. You know the rules and situation. Just knock the pass down and your team takes over at the line of scrimmage. So what does the DB do? You got it! He makes the interception and costs his team 20 yards (16 to be exact).
I made an observation about nature versus nurture a few days ago. Now’s the time for one about brains and brawn. They rarely go together – as this moron demonstrated. Knock the ball down, schmuck. Are you stupid? We all know the answer to that one. And that would be enough for today. Clearly the DB and Trump attended the same college class in basket weaving which was somehow titled Genius 101.
